When Should My Baby First Go to the Dentist’s Office?
The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) recommends children see a dentist as soon as their first tooth erupts or before they reach the age of one. Since a child’s first baby tooth can arrive any time within the first year of life (in most cases), it’s best for a children’s dentist to examine the current state of your child’s mouth and identify any potential problems before they have the chance to worsen. It also gives dentists the chance to discuss the importance of good oral hygiene with parents so that appropriate steps are taken at home.

We recommend that you read books about visiting the dentist, show them pictures of who they might see when arriving at our office, and practice at home. You can use a spoon to help them “open wide” as well as help them get settled in a chair if you would like.
