Dr. Stefan Ciz founded Smiletown in 2012 after a three year Dental Anaesthesia residency at the University of Toronto and a 23 year career as a general dentist and dentist anaesthesiologist. Dr Ciz created Smiletown as a child centered facility that encourages parent participation in their child’s oral health. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make the appropriate parenting decisions. Dr. Jonathan Woo, a pediatric dentist have joined the practice and bring their own individual skills and training to the Smiletown team.
We strive to provide a receptive and sensitive environment in which we can offer effective, predictable and successful treatment for your child. Our goal is to create a positive experience for your child and for you.

Dr. Stefan Ciz
Dr. Stefan Ciz founded Smiletown in 2012 after a three year Dental Anaesthesia residency at the University of Toronto and a 23 year career as a general dentist and dentist anaesthesiologist. Dr Ciz created Smiletown as a child centered facility that encourages parent participation in their child’s oral health. Stefan finds it professional fulfilling when he hears children laughing, playing and making friends at the dentist’s office.
On a personal note, Dr. Ciz and his wife, Julie, are proud parents of five daughter. As you can imagine, Stefan and especially Julie, are kept busy with a variety of after school activities in the Kitchener – Waterloo region, and look forward to the day when everyone has a drivers license!

Dr Atoosa Asghari
D.D.S. Practice Limited to Pediatrics
Dr. Atoosa Asghari graduated in 1997 from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, obtaining her Doctor of Dental Surgery(D.D.S)degree . Because of her great interest in practicing and working with children, she went on to complete her Pediatric Dentistry residency at prestigious Melli University of Medical Sciences. She graduated in September 2000 ,holding the M.Sc.Degree in Pedodontics, started her official career as an Assistant Professor in Rafsanjan Dental Faculty , Department of Pediatric Dentistry. She says instructing and teaching young passionate dental students along with providing treatments for young patients has been a kind of unique experience of endless honor and professional joy for her. In November 2001 she established her Pediatric Dental office.
In 2013 she immigrated to Canada, participated and successfully passed Equivalency Program for international dentists holding by National Dental Examining Board of Canada, at the very first attempt and with the highest scores.
She has completed her Medical Emergency Management training and Oral Sedation and N2O Sedation Course at University Of Toronto.
She provides quality dentistry for her patients .She is widely recognized for her thorough and gentle care of patients .In her about 20 years of practicing dentistry, she has treated over 25000 patients. She believes as a pediatric dentist has had a great opportunity accompanying with her husband Dr.Bahman who has been a professional orthodontist, enhancing her orthodontic skills.
Dr. Atoosa is a member of Canadian Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Ontario Dental association, and Iranian association of Pediatric Dentistry.
She is a Mother of two sons, and cherishes the time spends with her family. She enjoys participating in outdoor activities like skiing and fishing.
She continues participating in many volunteer activities providing services for kids, teens, and youth.
Dr. Atoosa feels so proud of joining Smile Town professional team and believes Smile town provides the highest quality dental care for our beloved young ones.
Dr. Gavin Ip
Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Gavin Ip earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario where he received a Bachelor of Medical Science Honor Specialization degree with distinction in biochemistry. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors at the University of Toronto. While there, he received the Horace Wells Medal in his class for outstanding achievement in anesthesia. He then pursued his three-year residency and his master’s degree in dental anesthesia at the University of Toronto. He now works as a part time clinical instructor at the Surgeri Center at the University of Toronto.
In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Gavin Ip is a member of several associations:

- Canadian Academy of Dental Anesthesia (CADA)
- Ontario Dental Association (ODA)
Outside of Practice
When he’s not practicing, Dr. Gavin Ip enjoys spending time with his wife, Inez, and their daughter, Anastasia, as well as their two poodles, Mochi and Mocha, who are spoiled rotten! He and his family love taking their dogs out to the dog park on weekends. Dr. Gavin Ip also enjoys a wide range of activities from model building, playing piano, archery and target shooting. Dr. Gavin Ip considers himself to be a kid at heart. He is a big fan of superheroes and animated movies. “I get really excited about any upcoming superhero or Disney or Pixar movies. Till this day, I still collect superhero figures!”
Dr. Parisa Akhavan
D.D.S. (Practice limited to children)
Dr. Parisa Akhavan graduated as a Pediatric dentist specialist from Tehran University of medical sciences, Tehran, Iran in 1998. She took a complementary academic fellowship course in “Hospital Dentistry” at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and was actively involved in dental treatment for numerous young children and children with special needs under sedation and general anesthesia.
She practiced Pediatric Dentistry for over 20 years by providing comprehensive dental care for the pediatric patients from a very young age through adolescence and used to operate her own private practice for about 18 years in Tehran, Iran. Besides, she was a university faculty member and as an assistant professor, worked with many graduate and post graduate university students in the past 20 years.
After moving to Canada, Dr. Parisa successfully completed the NDEB Equivalency Process and National Board Examination and obtained her RCDSO license. She continues to practice dentistry in Canada as a Dental Associate in Ontario, servicing all aspects of dental care for pediatric patients. Dr. Parisa is a proud member of Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
In her spare time Dr. Parisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, swimming and traveling.
Dr. Farah Abu Sharkh
D.D.S. (Practice limited to children)
Dr. Farah Abu Sharkh completed an undergraduate degree in applied mathematical sciences, a bachelor of education, and a doctor of dental surgery at the University of Western Ontario
A math teacher and a dentist, she knows she sounds like the most fun person around!
Following her dental degree, Dr. Farah pursued a general practice residency at the Ohio State University and a pediatric dentistry fellowship in Buffalo. Dr. Farah also participated in an international internship in a hospital in Batangas city, Philippines, where she enjoyed the friendship and mentorship of local dentists.
Dr. Farah is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.
Outside of work, Dr Farah loves to spend time with her family and friends. She is a proud aunt of 5 kids ( soon 6). She also enjoys kickboxing, yoga, sketching, and cooking.
